Cannabis Accessories Terminology

510 thread battery -  A round battery, sometimes called a pen, that screws onto a 510 thread cartridge. 510 thread batteries are standard because they fit most vape cartridges.

AIO - (All in one unit) A disposable vape with the battery and cart binded together. Usually not refillable.

Atomizer - The heating element of a vaporizer or electronic dab rig that turns concentrates into vapor.

Banger - A nail built to withstand high temperatures and heat concentrates. This bucket-shaped glass piece fits on a bong or dab rig. It needs a torch or electric heating attachment to melt the oil.

Bongs - Water pipes for smoking cannabis. The smoke is filtered through water before it is inhaled.

Bubbler - A combination of a pipe and a bong. It filters smoke through water but is usually

smaller and easier to carry than a bong. Most are glass, and silicone bubblers also exist.

Cone - Paper pre-rolled into a cone shape to simplify filling a joint. The shape offers more room for cannabis and is easy to pack.

Dab rig - A bong-like apparatus used to consume hash oil, wax, shatter or hash rather than flower.

Dabber tool - An elongated tool with a pointed end, designed for handling concentrates and oils. It is usually glass or stainless steel and makes dabbing neater and safer to handle. Most are small enough to fit in the hand.

Dugout - A small carrying case that holds a one-hitter pipe and a chamber of ground flower. It is an all-in-one kit for packing and smoking a one-hitter on the go.

E-nail - An electronic nail for heating concentrates. It heats electronically instead of with an

open flame, so the user can select and hold a temperature for more consistent dabs.

E-rig - An electronic rig that uses a battery or wall plug to heat a nail instead of a torch.

Standalone units have a water chamber, essentially a small bong, on top of the electronics. Concentrates are added directly into it.

Grinder - A metal, plastic or wooden device that breaks up flower so it can be rolled or packed into a joint, blunt or bowl.

Honeycomb disc - A flat, horizontal, disc-shaped percolator with many tiny holes that resemble a

honeycomb. Honeycomb percs usually sit inside a bong or dab rig.

Ice catcher - A feature in bongs and dab rigs that lets the neck hold ice cubes to cool the smoke.

Nail - The part of a dab rig that holds concentrate. It attaches to the downstem, much like a bowl on a bong. Nails are usually quartz, glass, ceramic or titanium. They are heated with a torch and flash-vaporize concentrates placed on them.

Nectar collector - A portable dab rig with a vertical, straw-like design. The body is glass or silicone. The

titanium or quartz tip is heated with a torch or electric power, then used to inhale concentrate.

Percolator - A chamber built into glass for extra filtration of smoke, which gives a cooler, smoother draw. Percolators come in many styles. The more complex the percolator, the more

filtered the smoke, but intricate designs are harder to clean.

Pipe - Pipes, or bowls, are small glass, ceramic or plastic pieces that flower is packed into and smoked from. They come in many shapes and sizes.

Rolling machine - A device that simplifies rolling a joint or blunt. Rolling machines handle different paper sizes, joint sizes and types of wraps.

Rolling paper - Specialty paper for rolling your own joints. It is sold in packs of sheets, often folded inside a cardboard wrapper. Formats include standard, flavored and printed. Some

luxury brands even offer papers made of 24K gold.

Steamroller - A cylindrical pipe, usually glass but also acrylic, metal or wood. Flower is packed on

top. The smoker covers the carb hole at one end, lights the flower and draws from the other end. Releasing the carb clears the collected smoke.

Torch - A heat source for dabbing. It heats the nail of a dab rig so concentrate can be

flash-vaporized. Torches often use butane or propane and are refillable.

Vape pens - Small vaporizers, also called dab pens or e-vapes. Some take concentrate and others

take flower. They produce less odor than smoking and work like e-cigarettes for tobacco.

Vaporizer - A device that heats dry flower or extract enough to release its active ingredients as vapor for inhaling. Some take concentrates and others take flower.
